Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems in Pinehurst, NC

Moore County has excellent public water systems that typically meet EPA safety standards. Still, like many communities across America, our local water contains trace amounts of certain contaminants that some families prefer to reduce even further, especially in the water they drink and cook with.

The Water Knight installs reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water systems for homes across Pinehurst and Moore County. We’re veteran-owned, we’ve served the Sandhills since 1996, and we believe in informed choices, not scare tactics.

Why Clean Drinking Water Matters

According to the CDC, water helps your body:

  • Keep your temperature normal
  • Lubricate and cushion joints
  • Protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues
  • Get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration and bowel movements

Your family drinks, cooks with and brushes their teeth with the water from your kitchen tap every day. That’s why it’s the water most families choose to filter.

What’s in Moore County’s Water?

The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a nonprofit research organization, maintains a national tap water database. Its 2021–2023 testing data for Moore County shows:

  • PFAS (“forever chemicals”): detected in the Carthage, Robbins and Southern Pines water systems
  • Hexavalent chromium (chromium-6): found in the Southern Pines and Robbins systems
  • Disinfection byproducts (HAAs and TTHMs): detected in the Southern Pines, Carthage, Aberdeen and Robbins systems

All of these systems meet EPA legal limits. EWG uses stricter health guidelines than the EPA, so some contaminants it flags are still within federal safety standards. RO is one of the most effective home treatments for all three.

Is Your Fridge Filter Enough?

Most refrigerator filters are designed to reduce chlorine and some sediment, which is why the water tastes and smells better. That’s a real benefit, but better-tasting water isn’t the same as clean water. Contaminants like lead and nitrates have no taste or smell, and unless a filter is certified for them, they can pass right through. Read more: Is Your Fridge Filter Really Protecting Your Family?

Why a Pitcher Filter Isn’t Enough

Pitcher filters are affordable, easy to use and do a reasonable job of reducing chlorine taste and odor. But they were built for taste, not for the full range of contaminants that can show up in tap water. The InterFlo® QuadPro SST is certified to reduce lead, nitrates and fluoride, right from a dedicated faucet at your sink. A Better Alternative to Bottled Water

Bottled water adds up fast for a household that drinks it every day. An RO system puts filtered water on tap for the cost of periodic filter changes: no cases to haul home, no running out, and far fewer plastic bottles headed for the landfill.

Our Recommended System: InterFlo® QuadPro SST

Water Knight installs the InterFlo® QuadPro SST from Water-Right, a premium tankless under-sink RO system made in the USA. It’s tested and certified by the Water Quality Association (WQA) against NSF/ANSI 58, and it’s certified to reduce fluoride, lead, nitrates and more.

Features

  • Four-stage filtration
  • Tankless, space-saving design that fits under most sinks
  • 3 glasses of clean water for every 1 glass of wastewater (a typical RO system wastes 4–5 glasses for every glass of clean water)
  • LED status alerts that tell you when it’s time to change filters
  • Easy-to-replace filter cartridges
  • Patented RO membrane designed to last up to four years, depending on use

What you’ll notice

  • Clean, clear drinking water ready at the tap
  • Better-tasting soups, sauces and meals
  • Full-flavor coffee, tea and juice
  • Crystal-clear ice cubes
  • A lower-cost, lower-waste alternative to bottled water
